Network and Dial-up Connections

Network and Dial-up Connections provides status or configuration information about connectivity between your computer and the Internet, a network, or another computer. You create, configure, store, and monitor all connections from within the Network and Dial-up Connections folder. With Network and Dial-up Connections, you can view the network connectivity configuration, whether you are physically located at the network or at a remote location.

To access Network and Dial-up Connections

  • From Control Panel, open Network and Dial-up Connections.

Network Monitor

Network Monitor captures and displays the network traffic that a computer running Windows 2003 Server receives from a local area network (LAN). It enables you to monitor and, if desired, to save the information for later analysis. Network administrators use the information provided by Network Monitor to detect and  troubleshoot networking problems experienced by the local computer. For example, you can use Network Monitor to diagnose problems that prevent a computer from communicating with other computers and to detect the reasons for delays in receiving data by portions of the network.

To access Network Monitor

  • From Start, point to Programs, and Administrative Tools, and then click Network Monitor.
